Security - the challenge

Security has become the biggest challenge in the Internet realm, where spiders, spams, spy, malicious codes, hackers continuously strive to threat all sorts of enhanced and modern security mechanism of yours.

The glitters of websites have lured a lot of professionals to throng upon various categories of websites with versatile objectives.

The wide range of downloadable codes, applications, templates have made the situation worse. In today’s world, people tend to download attractive codes/ design to enhance the glamour of his website and at times he paves the way for intruders unknowingly.

Hackers could break the security level of one of the largest science and research center of a country perhaps a decade ago, where the server had Unix as it’s operating system. Normally Unix is said to be the most impregnable operating system. This is also to be noted that it was not a web server and the purpose of intrusion had been totally different. This is just an instance, but the world has been witnessing a lot of such intrusions or attempts for long.

This is true that mostly hackers focus at financial jugglery by attempting to take a note of credit card number or paypal account identifier, but there has been many instances where spyware had been camouflaged for different reasons altogether.

A lot of applications or templates send spy to check whether their stipulations have been followed. e.g., whether a link of the originator is properly embedded like ‘powered by’ or ’sponsored by’. On the other hand spy even attempts to take a not of the secured information like password to be used at later stage for their own purpose. A simple example is link building or Search engine optimization. We all know that a link in one site offers one positive vote to the originator in the eyes of search engines.

A lot of malpractices have been noticed, where the optimizer is trying to place a link in another website even without the permission and knowledge of the owner of that website.

The cut throat competition, a natural instinct of making money at any rate, glamour and fames lures a wide gamut of people, where they hardly hesitate to take unethical routes to achieve their goals.
A classic example is applications which read the IP address and throw an interface to the user’s desktop or laptop. The core objective had been the security restriction and more interactivity where the user is obliged by a customized interface, which he can operate at ease even without much knowledge of computer or internet.

The irony is some of such interactive applications even attempt to read the confidential data from your terminal.

Internet can be hardly obscured in today’s world, but we suggest to take precautions by running proper anti-virus and spyware detecting software. At least you can adopt the share and acknowledge policy; Share your problems in appropriate forums and acknowledge experts’ advice.
