If we want to find out vertical segmentation in the web front, we primarily talk of Web Design, Web Programming and Database solution and finally Website Optimization, which is also termed as Search Engine Optimization or SEO.
We can never deny the fact of life that a website is launched with a prime objective of brand promotion and the success mostly depends upon it’s visibility in the Search Engines, as Search is the 2nd largest activity performed on the Internet.
Web Design is still restrained to certain tools and techniques, where the design concept of the designer can only add value. If you talk of the web programming, we talk of PHP, MySQL, Java, .Net etc, which has been changed from time to time, but more or less it remains constant. What we mean to say that Web Design or Web programming does NOT find radical changes very often, rather the version retains for sometime and moreover an web programmer can stick to the same programming language and version for a considerable amount of time.
What happens to SEO? As Search engines prefer to conceal more than they reveal, even veteran SEO experts fail to determine the algorithm and the contributing values of each parameters. On top of it, the fact is that Search Engine algorithms are changed very frequently and perhaps the worst part is that even the parameters and algorithm vary widely between various search engines.
In the history of SEO, we can never think of a day, when people had been able to identify the real logic of search engine algorithm, which happens behind the screen. SEO Blueprint is developed based on a lot of assumptions, which raise the uncertainty level of success. Moreover when the technique or philosophy is never known, how the blue print can be accurate?
If you have noticed the recent google update, which has taken place in the fag end of April, then you become even more confused. We have noticed a lot of websites to be awarded a better page rank value, when either they don’t have links or even if exists, in a significant number. Which webmaster will deny that he has not read thousands of articles or guidelines from SEO experts, which have been continuously emphasizing on links with a prevailing knowledge that every inbound link works as a positive vote to the website.
